In our ongoing stories on Domestic Violence and Covert Abusers, we bring this audio interview with Ms. Cynthia Bailey, LISW-CP who works at Corazon Holistic Health as a Social Worker and Therapist in Columbia, South Carolina. Ms. Bailey has had many years of training and experience in Domestic Violence and Covert Abuse.
As discussed in this interview Covert Abuse and Covert Abusers go mostly unspoken about in Society and in the Legal system.
We thank Ms. Bailey for taking the time to do this interview even though she was under the weather and hope to have her for many more interviews on this and other subjects.
We feel it is important to repeat that abuse is not only a partner issue, but actions such as Covert Abuse can also be done by a parent or other family member. These familiar trauma bonds are many times more difficult to separate than what society normally understands on Domestic Violence, due to a child’s or adult child’s natural need and love for a parent or family member.
As with our previous articles on Abuse and Covert Abusers (Brian Leslie) the cycle of abuse does follow a pattern, as does the mental manipulation practices by these individuals, and abusive family members.
Many victims of abuse (especially those who grow up in such chaos) unfortunately become mentally and emotionally lost that their core believe systems become extremely distorted, while still being able to present themselves as normal. Many begin self medication at an early age simply in an attempt to make sense of their world.
If you or someone you know is dealing with this issue seek help and contact Corazon Holistic Health at 803-567-1217.
