Media Advisory: Possible Date Rape Drug at Local Sports Bar

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating multiple reports of possible drugging at a local sports bar.

On October 31, at approximately 11:00 p.m.deputies were flagged down by a young lady who informed deputies that she and her friend were at TLC Sports Bar and Grill, 936 S. Stadium Rd., and that she believed her friend may have been “roofied”. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital.

On November 1, at approximately 2:20 a.m.deputies were dispatched to a local hospital; they met with the complainant who informed deputies that she believed her friend may have been drugged while she was at TLC Sports Bar and Grill, which is why they transported her to the hospital.

The details of these two recent events are very similar, prompting RCSD to issue a public safety announcement about possible narcotics being dispensed in alcoholic beverages at the location.

Further investigation, revealed that there was a previous report similar in nature. On September 13, deputies were dispatched to a local hospital for a report of a young lady who believed she was “roofied” while she was at TLC Sports Bar and Grill, also landing her in the hospital.

“Always be aware of your surroundings and never leave your drinks unattended”, Sheriff Lott said. “In everyone one of these instances the victims were with friends who were able to get them help, but it could have had greater consequences.
