The accidental shooting that left a 12-year-old injured was the result of two juveniles handling a gun.
At approximately 2:40 p.m. on September 17, deputies were called to the 200 block of Lewis Scott Court in Eastover in reference to a shooting.
They arrived to find a 12-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The victim’s friend, also 12-years-old, said the other child went into another room and came back with a handgun. As he was showing the other child it accidentally discharged.
Neither 12-year-old will be charged in this incident. There were no adults in the home at the time. The weapon was not stolen.
The 12 year old was released from the hospital yesterday.
