Sheriff August would like to release the following information:
On August 3, 2025, Darlington County Deputies responded to a residence on Sunny Point Road in the Florence area of Darlington County about a shooting. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with the suspect, who was then detained and later charged.
Deputies were able to locate the victim, and it was reported that the victim sustained minor injuries after being shot at by the suspect while in their vehicle.
On August 4, 2025, Payton Floyd was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder.
Floyd is currently being held in the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center, awaiting his bond hearing.
