
John Anthony Heflin, 54, of Kershaw County, was arrested on Thursday, July 31, 2025, and now faces a series of serious criminal charges involving a minor, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
Heflin was charged with Disseminating Harmful Material or Exhibiting a Harmful Performance to a Minor, Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor (2nd Degree and 3rd Degree), and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The charges stem from an investigation initiated at the request of the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Heflin was taken into custody and booked at the Kershaw County Detention Center.
This is not Heflin’s first encounter with the criminal justice system regarding alleged offenses involving minors. He was previously charged by SLED with Criminal Solicitation of a Minor on September 26, 2024.
The 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will prosecute the case.
SLED emphasized that their investigation into Heflin is active and ongoing, and they are urging the public to come forward with any additional information that may assist investigators.
