Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of 48-year-old Patrice Johnson (DOB: 05/19/1976) in connection to the Murder that occurred on Quinton Lane back on December 16, 2024. Johnson allegedly knew about the 15-year-old being shot but waited approximately 2 hours before notifying law enforcement. Johnson is the mother of the 14-year-old that was charged with murder in connection to this case. She is charged with Accessory After the fact of a Felony/Murder. She was transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where she was booked.

On December 16, 2024, just before 3:00am, deputies were in the area of Hardscrabble Road and Clemson Road when they heard shots fired. Deputies patrolled the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the source of the shooting, but were unable to locate a crime scene.
Around 4:00am, a resident at the 200 block of Quinton Lane called 911 stating they believed there was a body on their back porch. When deputies arrived on scene, they found the 15-year-old victim on the back porch with multiple gunshot wounds about the body and no vital signs. The Richland County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
Investigators were able to quickly identify a suspect in the murder. That afternoon, December 16, 2024, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department assisted Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators with serving search and arrest warrants at a residence. A 14-year-old suspect was located and taken into custody. During a search of the residence, a firearm was recovered. The firearm is not reported stolen; however, investigators are still working to find out how the juvenile obtained the gun.
The 14-year-old suspect is charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Possession of a Handgun by Person under 18. He was transported and booked at DJJ.
