Deputies and Criminal Investigators of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Hamlet Police Department swiftly responded to a domestic violence incident that took place just before noon today south of Hamlet. During the incident, a male fired a gun into a vehicle that was occupied as the driver was trying to leave the area.
Sheriff Mark Gulledge stated, “Although the investigation is in its early stages, we have one person in custody, and thankfully, no injuries have occurred.” He emphasized that this was an isolated incident and the community was not threatened. The Sheriff’s Office will provide additional information once the investigation is complete.
