UPDATE: Blythewood Incident With Barricaded Suspect

Richland County Sheriff’s Department received a tip from Kershaw County investigators yesterday about a stolen van that was parked at a home in a Blythewood community.

Based on that information, RCSD investigators obtained a search warrant for the property. When investigators arrived and announced the warrant, Alexander Keller (DOB: 2/16/1988) barricaded himself in the attic of the home. Deputies on scene requested the assistance of the Special Response Team (SRT) and the K-9 unit. Keller was eventually apprehended by a K-9. A total of three suspects were arrested for outstanding warrants for multiple property crimes in Kershaw and Fairfield counties. Investigators also recovered a stolen license plate and two stolen vehicles during the search.

RCSD then received a tip in the overnight hours of Feb. 22 that a suspicious person was seen at the house after investigators left. Investigators obtained another search warrant for the home to arrest the suspect. The suspect, Joshua Shealy (DOB: 1/5/1990), was observed in the home with a gun and he refused to cooperate. RCSD’s SRT and K-9 units again assisted and apprehended Shealy.

Shealy was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center for charges from Kershaw and Fairfield County. Keller was booked on a Richland County warrant. All suspects may face additional charges from Richland County.
