South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announces that a repeat sex offender from Dorchester County has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
On February 16, Stephen Christopher Sisk, pleaded guilty to one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Second Degree, in Dorchester County before the Honorable Brooks P. Goldsmith.
In May 2020, the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office received a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the uploading of child sexual abuse material. Further investigation revealed that the account associated belonged to Sisk, who had already been convicted of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Third Degree. A search warrant was conducted of Sisk’s address in Dorchester County on May 26, 2020. Sisk was interviewed after being informed of his Miranda rights and he admitted to downloading, viewing, and possessing child sexual abuse material. A subsequent forensic examination of the seized computer equipment was conducted and revealed approximately 270 images of child sexual abuse material.
Judge Goldsmith sentenced Sisk to 10 years suspended to 8 years in prison followed by 2 years of probation, with credit for 995 days. Sisk will be a Tier III sex offender and forfeited his devices.
