At approximately 2:48 AM, the Cayce Police Department received a call of a domestic disturbance. The suspect opened fire and shot one of the Cayce Police Officers.
Cayce Police Chief Chris Cowan says after seven hours of negotiations, the suspect in this morning’s domestic violence incident who shot and killed a Cayce Police Officer took his own life as well.
Chief Cowan says Officer Barr ‘lost his life this morning for no reason.’
Officer Barr was just 28 years old.
Chief Cowan says he did not have a wife or children, that he was married to his profession as a firefighter, EMT & police officer and that he cared about nothing other than serving this community.
He also loved his K-9, Molly.
