

A traffic stop on I-95 resulted in two suspects being charged with Trafficking in Marijuana. On August 13, 2025, Deputies assigned to the FCSO Criminal Enforcement Unit initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation on a vehicle traveling south on I-95 near the 170-mile marker. During the stop, Deputies developed reasonable suspicion of criminal activity and conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. The search of the vehicle yielded a total of 120 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana weighing in excess of 100 pounds. (see attached photograph)

Deputies estimate the street value of the seized marijuana at approximately $120,000.00. Under South Carolina law, Trafficking in Marijuana (100 pounds to 2000 pounds) is punishable by mandatory minimum imprisonment of 25 years.
