The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has charged two inmates at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center while they attempted to escape on Dec 13, 2023.
It was discovered that the subjects had utilized a trashcan and climbed through a hole in the ceiling — a method similarly used by other inmates at the jail within this past year.
While the inmates attempted to escape, they also attempted to steal a car but were caught before they were able to leave the Detention Center’s property.
Richland County deputies were contacted about the incident yesterday, Dec 16, 2023.
The two inmates have been identified as 22 year-old Alyssa Putnam who is charged with Escape, Motor Vehicle Theft and Tampering with a Vehicle and 41 year-old Tayrean Brechbill who is charged with Escape, Tampering with a Vehicle and Larceny.
