Columbia Club Homicide Arrest

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of a man in connection with a homicide outside of a Columbia club.

Around 3 a.m. on February 13, deputies responded to 3722 River Drive (Vegas Nights) after receiving reports of a shooting. Deputies arrived and found a man in a nearby parking lot with a gunshot wound to the upper body. EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.

The investigation revealed that a man known to the victim was the shooter. Antwon Brown (DOB: 9/27/1994) was arrested and charged with Murder. He was recently released on bond from Alvin S. Glenn after being arrested on several charges, including Armed Robbery. As a condition of that bond, Brown was wearing an ankle monitor. The GPS location of the monitor was confirmed to be in the area at the time the victim was killed.

“This is a person who served time in prison for robbery, is released and arrested for another robbery, then is released yet again to commit Murder,” Sheriff Lott said. “I’ve been speaking out about the issue with catch and release and this is a prime example of that failing our citizens. Brown was wearing a GPS monitor and it did not stop him from taking a life.”

Brown was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
