Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of a man and woman for the murder of 21-year-old Shantarius Thompson last month.
Naia Lawson (DOB: 4/30/2001) and Dorian Gossette (DOB: 2/21/2003) are each charged with murder. Additionally, Gossette is charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Both were arrested without incident yesterday, June 13.
On May 20 just before 11 pm, deputies were called to the 2100 block of Kathleen Drive for a shooting. They arrived to find a man inside a home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Thompson had arrived at the incident location saying that he was being followed. Shortly after, a vehicle drove by and fired gunshots, hitting him.
Thompson was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The investigation has revealed that the shooting stemmed from a domestic situation involving the victim and Lawson.
Both Lawson and Gossette have been booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
