Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of a man for shooting and killing his friend.
Tyler Alexander (DOB: 10/24/1998) was arrested by RCSD deputies the morning of, June 9, without incident. He is charged with murder in the death of his 22-year-old friend in the home that they shared.
On March 29 around 6:45pm, deputies were called to the home in the 400 block of Freshwater Drive for a shooting with one person hit. They arrived to find the victim lying just inside the doorway of the home. He’d been shot in the upper body.
The victim was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Over the course of the past two months, the investigation has revealed that Alexander had ongoing problems with his friend who was living with him at the time of the incident. That came to a head on March 29, when Alexander fired shots at his friend, hitting him. Alexander called 911 immediately following the shooting.
Additionally, Alexander has been charged on outstanding warrants from two other unrelated incidents.
Alexander has been booked into Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
