Agents of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division recently arrested former law enforcement officer with the Springdale Police Department in connection with an incident where the officer unholstered his department issued Taser, pointed it at the juvenile and pulled the trigger. One of the taser’s probes struck the child in the head and had to be surgically removed.
Carl Brooks Wilhelm age 36, was charged with unlawful neglect of a child, along with misconduct in office.
The investigation into this matter is being conducted by SLED at the request of the Springdale Police Department.
Wilhelm was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
This case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney Generals Office.
Wilhelm was terminated by the Springdale Police Department following this incident.
