LEXINGTON COUNTY BAKERY FINED FOR AMMONIA RELEASE INTO ATMOSPHERE

State regulators fined a local commercial bakery in Lexington County $14,000 for two unlawful releases of ammonia into the air.

According to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control an inspection in August 2018 found that the bakery operated by Aryzta, had problems with equipment and training. This included a faulty valve that released ammonia into the air.

The Aryzta bakery is located near the Columbia Metropolitan Airport is a part Swiss headquartered company that produces baked good for other companies but also local retail goods under other names.
